Job summary

Produce Careers Inc. in New Jersey is seeking an experienced Operations Leader to run daily production across automated and manual deciduous fruit lines, hitting output targets while controlling labor, overtime, and ensuring food-safety standards.

This floor-based role requires hands-on supervision and cross-training of crews, with on-site shifts, weekends, and peak periods. The base salary ranges from $60,000 to $80,000.

Qualifications

• Five+ years in supervisory/foreman roles in fresh produce packing.
• Fully bilingual in English and Spanish.
• Proven ability to hit output targets while controlling labor costs.
• Working knowledge of HACCP, GMP and traceability.
• On-site full-time in New Jersey; available for shift work, weekends and seasonal peaks.

Responsibilities

• Run the daily schedule set by Production Manager: allocate crew, lines and equipment to meet order commitments.
• Set and hold line speeds, staffing and changeover times to hit throughput targets each shift.
• Roster and flex crew size to volume to deliver the plan at the lowest reasonable labor cost.
• Authorize overtime only against genuine order commitments and track it daily.
• Report variances to the Production Manager and address causes of labor overruns.
• Supervise automated repack equipment and manual grading stations.
• Own and maintain the cross-training matrix with competency sign-off.
• Coach daily on technique, quality, speed and safe practice; retrain where needed.
• Develop line leaders to provide supervisory cover for day-to-day performance.
