Job summary

Bear Creek Elementary in Katy ISD, Houston, Texas is seeking a bilingual Aide – Pre-K (English/Spanish) to support classroom teachers in a 187-day instructional setting. Fluency in English and Spanish, high school diploma or GED required, and Paraprofessional certificate required after employment are essential.

Responsibilities include assisting with instruction, maintaining records, preparing materials, and supervising students under teacher direction.

Qualifications

• Fluent in both oral and written English and Spanish
• High school diploma or GED required
• 48 college hours required or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test
• Paraprofessional aide certificate required once employed
• Ability to work with students and teachers
• Ability to manage a flexible schedule
• School office experience or volunteer experience preferred
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to work within deadlines

Responsibilities

• Adhere to federal, state, and local policies and procedures related to pre-kindergarten programs.
• Participate in planned in-services and professional growth activities.
• Assist in carrying out the instructional program.
• Assist in maintaining student records and audit folders.
• Assist in preparation, use, and maintenance of instructional materials and equipment.
• Assist with teacher-planned activities, exercises, and drills.
• Assist in the teaching/learning process of working with individuals and small groups of students to reinforce skills as directed by the teacher.
• Attend professional meetings as required.
• Ability to assist in administering and scoring objective assessment instruments.
• Ability to establish a positive working relationship with other ESL/bilingual and regular education personnel.
• Supervise individual and small group activities as directed by the teacher.
