Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee in New York City is seeking a Field Based Social Worker to collaborate with shelter staff and address the needs of clients with substance use disorders within the shelter system.

You will meet clients in assigned shelters, educate them on NARCAN and harm reduction, and engage each client with the social worker to provide guidance and support. Strong data collection and timely documentation are required.

Qualifications

• H.S. diploma or GED; CRPA certification.
• Knowledge of OASAS rules and ability to maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred; basic computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a two-person team with the Field Based Social Work Supervisor and collaborate with shelter staff to address clients' needs.
• Educate clients on NARCAN, harm reduction and safe use practices; provide guidance and peer support.
• Escort clients to SUD service providers; attend community meetings; collect data and write progress notes.
