Job summary

The SPEAK Center for Language and Learning in Houston, TX is seeking a compassionate Bilingual Speech-Language Pathologist for a 1099 contract in a school-based setting. You will evaluate and treat students with IEPs, implement plans, and supervise SLPA support while engaging diverse learners in language therapy.

Fluency in Spanish is required. This role emphasizes collaboration with teachers and families, ongoing progress documentation, and adherence to TEA standards to ensure positive outcomes

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology required.
  • Certificate as a Speech-Language Pathologist required.
  • ASHA Certification preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency required.
  • Experience with pediatric populations preferred.
  • Knowledge of therapy materials and methods.
  • Excellent communication with children and families.
  • Ability to collaborate within a therapy team.
  • Strong organizational skills and accurate documentation.
  • Patient, empathetic, and positive demeanor.

Responsibilities

  • Therapy Support: Implement treatment plans and therapy techniques.
  • Monitor and document students' progress and responses to therapy activities.
  • Collaborate with SLPAs to adjust treatment strategies based on student needs.
  • Interact with students in a warm, child-friendly manner and engage in therapy activities.
  • Foster rapport with students and families to support progress.
  • Administrative Support: Maintain student records and TEA-compliant progress notes.
  • Coordinate with school staff and SLPA for scheduling therapy sessions.
  • Communicate with support staff and parents, providing progress updates.
  • Collaborate with school staff for a multidisciplinary approach to therapy.
  • Participate in regular professional development to stay updated on pediatric speech therapy.
