Job summary

HALO Precision Diagnostics in Oakland Park, FL, is seeking a Patient Navigator (Patient Support & Phlebotomy) to guide patients through hereditary cancer genetic testing, provide education, coordinate care, and perform phlebotomy as part of a multidisciplinary team.

You will be the primary contact for patients and partner sites, manage scheduling, specimens, and follow-up while upholding HIPAA compliance and delivering a compassionate, high-quality patient experience; this in-person, full-time

Qualifications

• Nationally certified phlebotomist with strong venipuncture skills.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience (front office or back office).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations.
• Current BLS certification.
• Experience with diagnostic or genetic specimen collection.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (if travel is required).

Responsibilities

• Guide patients through the hereditary cancer genetic testing process from start to finish.
• Provide clear, compassionate education on testing, procedures, and next steps.
• Serve as the primary patient contact to ensure a supportive and informed experience.
• Conduct structured patient consultations to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistency.
• Build strong relationships with partner site staff, providers, and clinical teams.
• Own patient cases, scheduling, follow-ups, and workflow coordination.
• Proactively identify and resolve barriers to patient testing or completion.
• Ensure timely callbacks and consistent communication with patients and partners.
• Perform venipuncture and collect blood specimens for genetic testing.
• Ensure proper patient identification, labeling, handling, and transport of specimens.
• Follow all clinical protocols, safety standards, and compliance requirements.
• Maintain accurate documentation in EMR/EHR systems.
• Build expertise in genetic testing workflows, insurance processes, and patient eligibility.
• Support insurance verification and authorization processes as needed.
• Ensure HIPAA compliance and accurate data entry.
• Confidently answer patient questions regarding testing and next steps.
• Create a welcoming, professional, and supportive environment for patients.
• Respond to patient concerns with empathy and clarity.
• Identify and help resolve barriers such as scheduling, insurance, or workflow issues.
• Support creative solutions to improve patient completion and outcomes.
