Job summary

HealthNet is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to act as the first point of contact for patients and referring providers at the Martindale Brightwood Health Center in Indianapolis. The role focuses on accurate registrations, triage, and guiding patients to appointments and services with a courteous, compliant approach.

The position requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage high call volumes, and proficiency in interpreting insurance information.

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills expected.
• Ability to handle high call volumes (80+ calls/day) and work under pressure.
• Ability to work independently and make sound judgments.
• Ability to interact with a diverse patient population and staff.
• Ability to interpret insurance information; knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Responsibilities

• First point of contact with patients and referrals via telephone.
• Assess patients’ needs and triage by a nurse or schedule appointments.
• Accurately complete registrations and pre-registrations.
• Provide directions to health center locations and transportation options.
• Distribute educational materials and collect time audits for visits/no-shows.
