Job summary

Kids Above All is seeking a Parent Educator to serve the Lake County/Waukegan area. This full-time role requires a bilingual candidate and involves meeting with families in their homes, delivering educational activities and developmental information, and assessing child development to create effective service plans.

You will provide resources to families, conduct screenings and referrals, and support goal achievement through the Parents As Teachers curriculum.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, early childhood education, sociology or related field is preferred; associate degree or HS diploma accepted.
• 0–2 years of applicable experience.
• Experience with family support, prenatal health care, or early childhood preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Highly organized, flexible, and able to handle multiple priorities; strong time management.
• Ability to function well in a team environment.
• Demonstrates project management, organizational, analytical and presentation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and effective communications skills (verbal, written, documentation, listening).
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Proven ability to build professional relationships.
• Demonstrated problem-solving techniques.

Responsibilities

• Meet with families in homes and develop service plans and provide resources.
• Conduct home visits and assess child development; provide screenings and referrals.
• Guide families toward realistic service goals and plan implementation.
• Deliver child/parent activities using Parents As Teachers curriculum.
• Ensure medical needs of children in the program are assessed.
• Manage a caseload of 15–18 families with bi-weekly home visits.
