Job summary

Topeka Public Schools USD 501 is seeking bilingual paraprofessionals to support English language learners. Under the supervision of an administrator and certified staff, you will assist the teacher with instruction, organize materials, monitor student behavior, and help with classroom safety.

Fluency in Spanish and English is required, along with a High School Diploma or GED and 48 college credits or state assessment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 48 college credits or pass the State-Approved Assessment.
• Fluent in both Spanish and English; reading and writing in both.
• Proficient with computers and basic software.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Confidential handling of sensitive information.
• Experience with English language learners preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with daily instruction.
• Help students achieve individual objectives.
• Provide interpretation for Spanish-speaking families.
• Work varied hours around parent-teacher conferences.
• Direct activities to reinforce concepts for individuals or small groups.
• Modify activities with teachers to meet student needs.
• Conduct informal assessments.
• Assist in data collection and maintaining student records.
• Help maintain learning centers and instructional materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
