Job summary

Kansas City Public Schools is seeking an ESOL Bilingual Instructional Paraprofessional to support classroom teachers and provide interpretation and translation to facilitate communication among students, families, staff, and district personnel. Immediate start date with full-time hours.

Position requires sixty college hours or ParaPro certification and bilingual/multilingual abilities. Benefits include health: and dental insurance and KCPS pension plan withemployee contributions.

Qualifications

• Sixty (60) college hours or Para Pro Exam Certification.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers to implement activities that support students' instructional and social-emotional needs.
• Assist teachers with team teaching, team planning, and daily and emergency classroom routines.
• Monitor student behavior and reinforce established expectations to promote a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
• Lead small-group instruction under the direction of a supervising teacher.
• Facilitate communication by providing interpretation and translation services for KCPS stakeholders, including teachers, parents, and staff, as needed.
• Assist with the identification, screening, and assessment of English Learners.
• Participate in conferences, parent meetings, team meetings, professional development, and other assigned meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
