Job summary

Retina Consultants of Texas is seeking a bilingual Spanish-speaking Ophthalmic Technician to support patient intake, document medical history, and perform preliminary ocular examinations at the Vintage Park Clinic and other locations.

You will manage patient flow, communicate appointment status to patients and clinic managers, assist with exams, and ensure accurate charting while upholding HIPAA and safety standards. Travel to multiple clinics is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; some college preferred.
• 1–2 years ophthalmic assistant experience preferred.
• Certification as an ophthalmic assistant and CPR required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Obtains patient history including chief complaint and ocular/general history.
• Performs and documents VA, visual fields, motility, pupillary tests, dilation, tonometry.
• Provides compassionate patient care throughout clinic flow.
• Handles opening/closing duties, inventory, drug prep, sterile instruments.
• Maintains cleanliness and stock in exam and procedure rooms.
• Supports ophthalmic photographer with OCTs as needed.
• Contacts no-show patients and reschedules appointments.
• Maintains smooth flow of patients to the physician; adjusts test sequence.
• Troubleshoots projector, tonopen, autoclave; assists with laser/injections when needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
