Job summary

University of Illinois Chicago is seeking a Navigator to support students by connecting them with campus and community resources, and guiding them through university processes. The role emphasizes outreach, referral coordination, and program support to promote student access and persistence.

Ideal candidates will have experience with undocumented/mixed-status communities, a Bachelor’s degree, and strong bilingual communication in Spanish and English.

Qualifications

• Experience working with undocumented and mixed status students, families, or communities.
• Bilingual language skills with the ability to read, write, speak and translate Spanish/English.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience working with undocumented and mixed status students, families, or communities.
• Knowledge of campus, community, and basic‑needs resources.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Responsibilities

• Meet with students to identify needs and provide information regarding resources.
• Assist students in navigating campus processes and accessing programs.
• Provide follow‑up support regarding referrals and resources.
• Refer complex matters to the appropriate university office or community service provider.
• Maintain records of student contacts, referrals, and follow‑up activities.
• Coordinate logistics for program, workshops, and outreach initiatives.
