Job summary

Voices College-Bound Language Academies seeks a Permanent Substitute to provide reliable classroom coverage, follow lesson plans, and manage student behavior. Reporting to the Business Manager, you will help maintain academic and behavioral standards and ensure smooth transitions in the absence of a lead teacher.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Substitute Teaching Permit required.
• Native-like or near-native proficiency in English and Spanish, both written and spoken.
• Demonstrated passion for Voices Academies’ mission and serving low-income communities.

Responsibilities

• Implement the lesson plans and schedule prepared by the absent teacher.
• Maintain Voices’ academic and behavioral expectations and classroom routines.
• Oversee student behavior in class and during the day as requested.
• Create a positive student culture and productive learning environment for all students.
• Collect and organize student work for when the absent teacher returns.
• Communicate with the teacher about student performance in the teacher’s absence.
• Collaborate with other teachers and staff to minimize transitional problems.
• Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
• Maintain operational expectations and routines.
• Respond to emergencies per Voices’ Safety Plan.
• Ensure students have access to a productive learning environment by enforcing campus rules.
• Take attendance and manage student dismissal.
• Supervise student transitions between classes.
