Job summary

Global Village Academy is seeking an on-call Substitute Teacher to provide instruction based on the regular teacher’s plans, foster a productive and safe learning environment, and support student success throughout the school day.

Position offers several compensation levels depending on licensure (CDE License, with Teacher License, PERA retirees, etc.), and emphasizes reliability, professionalism, and adaptability to various classrooms and languages.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university preferred.
• Strong classroom management skills essential for substitute teaching.
• Ability to follow prepared lesson plans and adapt to different teachers.

Responsibilities

• Report to the Front Desk/Administrative Assistant on arrival.
• Maintain classroom routines and expectations.
• Implement lesson plans and follow curriculum left by the regular teacher.
• Monitor student behavior during class and transitions.
• Take daily attendance and maintain records.
• Follow school policies and procedures relevant to regular teachers.
• Communicate with the regular teacher or administration about progress or concerns.
• Ensure the classroom is clean and organized at day’s end.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
