Job summary

Alameda Center is dedicated to compassionate, high-quality care in a team-focused setting. This Nursing Clerical Assistant role provides essential clerical support to the nursing department, handling medical records, transcription, and unit operations.

Preferred bilingual candidates (English and Spanish and/or Hindi) will help communication with residents and families. The position emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and teamwork within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma; college/business coursework preferred.
• Experience with medical terminology and transcription preferred.
• Must read/write English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide secretarial support to nursing staff as needed.
• Deliver admission charts to unit and prep forms for admission.
• Fax physicians’ orders daily.
• Distribute faxed printouts to appropriate department.
• Update resident charts with vital signs and weights.
• Schedule physician visits for residents and relay to nursing.
• Prepare discharge charts for medical records.
• Perform chart audits and report deficiencies to Unit Director.
• Maintain medical records per policy.
• Schedule agency personnel as directed by DON.
• Keep unit stocked with necessary forms.
• Order and charge resident care supplies as needed.
• Order miscellaneous unit stock.
• Complete daily staffing sheets and copy for Unit Director.
• Assist in staffing needs and calls to fill them.
• Refer resident information to unit director or nurse coordinator.
• Greet and assist visitors entering unit.
• Answer telephones and take messages.
