Job summary

The Chinatown YMCA, part of the YMCA of Greater New York, is seeking a New Americans Initiative Coordinator to support strategy, implementation, fidelity and quality of its programs.

The role focuses on trauma-informed case management, community outreach, data entry, and collaboration with the NAI Director to ensure strong outreach to immigrant communities. Bilingual Spanish/English or Mandarin/English is required; evenings and occasional Saturdays are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in education, social work, mental health, or related field.
• Minimum of two years of related experience.
• Bilingual required: Spanish/English or Mandarin/English.
• Knowledge of adult literacy, civic education, immigration legal services, and case management.
• Ability to articulate immigration issues and advocacy at local/state levels.
• Excellent organizational and teamwork skills.
• Willing to work evenings and occasional Saturdays.

Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-informed case management and referrals per program standards.
• Support recruitment, registration, orientation, and community outreach within local communities.
• Help manage programs to maximize participant satisfaction, revenue, and funder compliance.
• Create opportunities for participant involvement and ownership in YMCA growth.
• Maintain client files and data entry in government/internal databases.
• Maintain referral networks and ensure workshops are delivered by instructors.
• Assist with reporting to funders and managing New Americans Initiative operations.
• Supervise program staff, volunteers, and interns; model professional behavior.
