Job summary

Tooele County School District seeks a Multilingual Learner (ML) Student Support Paraprofessional to assist English Learner students across two elementary schools. This shared position supports instruction, language development, and family communication with translation when appropriate.

The role involves monitoring progress, assisting with language assessments, and coordinating with ML facilitators, general educators, and staff.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required (submit diploma or certification within the job application)
• Minimum Age: Applicants must be at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct instructional support to Multilingual Learner students under supervision.
• Assist in delivering differentiated instruction and language development activities.
• Support Newcomer students with orientation, registration, and access to resources.
• Help students understand classroom content, assignments, and assessments.
• Facilitate communication between students, families, and school staff, including translation when appropriate.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to admin and teachers.
• Collaborate with school staff to meet EL students' academic and social-emotional needs.
• Meet ML students to check progress (grades, homework, attendance).
• Document students' academic progress and attendance tracking.
• Assist with English proficiency assessments (WIDA screenings and ACCESS).
• Support ML families with translation for meetings and events.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow district policies.
• Attend district training related to paraprofessional qualifications.
