Family First Health is seeking a Bilingual Medical Receptionist for our Hannah Penn school-based location. We are looking for an individual who is bilingual, proficient in speaking both Spanish and English. Candidates should have a working knowledge of medical terminology and be computer proficient. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greet and register patients, collecting accurate demographic and insurance information within athenahealth, and facilitate first-time Self Declare for the reduced fee program following established policies.
- Maintain confidentiality of medical information and assist patients with excellent customer service, ensuring problem resolution.
- Review and print provider schedules for the following day.
- Prepare for next-day appointments by reviewing and arranging patient demographics, insurance information, necessary forms, and performing pre-visit eligibility tasks.
- Schedule patient appointments within established guidelines.
- Staff the front desk and coordinate with other staff to ensure responsibilities are covered.
- Answer telephones, route callers, take messages, and provide routine information.
- Perform end-of-day tasks and reconcile cash drawers.
- Maximize collections at the time of service.
- Research billing questions and problems with assistance from the billing department.
- Demonstrate knowledge of health insurances and payer types.
- Process and classify documents in the clinical inbox in athenahealth.
- Schedule and reschedule appointments following established guidelines.
- Manage mail and process received forms and documents promptly.
- Follow release of information procedures, preparing paper charts as needed.
- Comply with HIPAA rules and regulations.
- Document patient complaints and incidents as necessary.
- Participate in departmental and organizational meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
- Proficiency in computer software applications (Microsoft Office, others).
- Excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
- Basic arithmetic skills for calculations and reconciliations.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Critical thinking and logical reasoning abilities.
- Ability to set positive examples and adhere to company policies.
- Skill in operating office equipment.
- Ability to work in demanding environments and communicate effectively with diverse backgrounds.
