Family First Health is seeking a Bilingual Medical Receptionist for our Hannah Penn school-based location. We are looking for an individual who is bilingual, proficient in speaking both Spanish and English. Candidates should have a working knowledge of medical terminology and be computer proficient. As a Medical Receptionist at Family First Health, candidates should have a positive and outgoing personality with excellent customer service skills and strong organizational skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Greet and register patients, collecting accurate demographic and insurance information within athenahealth, and facilitate first-time Self Declare for the reduced fee program following established policies.
  2. Maintain confidentiality of medical information and assist patients with excellent customer service, ensuring problem resolution.
  3. Review and print provider schedules for the following day.
  4. Prepare for next-day appointments by reviewing and arranging patient demographics, insurance information, necessary forms, and performing pre-visit eligibility tasks.
  5. Schedule patient appointments within established guidelines.
  6. Staff the front desk and coordinate with other staff to ensure responsibilities are covered.
  7. Answer telephones, route callers, take messages, and provide routine information.
  8. Perform end-of-day tasks and reconcile cash drawers.
  9. Maximize collections at the time of service.
  10. Research billing questions and problems with assistance from the billing department.
  11. Demonstrate knowledge of health insurances and payer types.
  12. Process and classify documents in the clinical inbox in athenahealth.
  13. Schedule and reschedule appointments following established guidelines.
  14. Manage mail and process received forms and documents promptly.
  15. Follow release of information procedures, preparing paper charts as needed.
  16. Comply with HIPAA rules and regulations.
  17. Document patient complaints and incidents as necessary.
  18. Participate in departmental and organizational meetings.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in computer software applications (Microsoft Office, others).
  • Excellent grammar, spelling, and punctuation skills.
  • Basic arithmetic skills for calculations and reconciliations.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Critical thinking and logical reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to set positive examples and adhere to company policies.
  • Skill in operating office equipment.
  • Ability to work in demanding environments and communicate effectively with diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with patients and staff.
  • Adherence to policies, including remote/telework policies if applicable.
  • Ability to articulate and promote Family First Health’s mission and values.
  • Maintain required clearances.
