Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking an Interpreter Education Trainer to run the Bridging the Gap medical interpreter training program for bilingual team members across locations in New Jersey. The role includes recruiting participants, educating staff about the program, and maintaining comprehensive training records.

The trainer will conduct 40‑hour, 64‑hour, and mental health interpreter trainings, develop engaging session agendas, and collaborate with the Cross Culture Health Care Program

Qualifications

• Associate degree required.
• Minimum 3+ years in medical interpreting.
• Bilingual – fluent in English and other languages.
• Experience training adults or as a medical interpreter trainer/teacher; or as a facilitator in professional/workforce settings.
• Excellent teaching and facilitation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Superior organizational abilities, follow-up, and attention to detail.
• Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite.
• Secure access to the internet for remote training.

Responsibilities

• Delivers the Bridging the Gap medical interpreter training across HMH bilingual team members.
• Conducts Bridging the Gap medical interpreter training (40-hour, 64-hour, and mental health interpreter training).
• Prepares for and reports on training.
• Develops an organized agenda for each training session.
• Familiar with training participants and their roles and experience.
• Prepares engaging activities for each session.
• Responds to questions from participants and leaders.
• Communicates with the Cross Culture Health Care Program (CCHCP) team.
• Maintains and shares organized records of training activities.
• Attends meetings regarding program updates.
• Provides on-site recruiting of bilingual team members.
• Collaborates with leaders on scheduling bilingual training.
• Educates HMH team members and leaders on the training program.
• Participates in Language Services presentations at Welcome Home meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Adheres to organizational competencies and standards.
