Job summary

Responsibilities include interpreting for clinicians, documenting activity, and supporting referrals in a 24/7 healthcare environment. Requirements include bilingual proficiency, medical terminology familiarity, and completion of an accredited training program.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in target language and English with medical interpreting proficiency.
• Knowledge of medical terminology across anatomy, physiology and treatments.
• Experience interpreting for physicians, nurses and allied health staff.
• Familiarity with NCIHC ethics in medical interpreting.

Responsibilities

• Provides interpretation for patients, families and health care team in clinical settings.
• Promotes confidentiality and professional distance during interpretation.
• Interprets for life support, fetal demise and emergency cases when needed.
• Maintains daily documentation of work activity and charting interpretation.
• Facilitates follow-up appointments, referrals, transportation, and referrals.
• Adheres to federal, state and local laws governing medical interpreting.
