Job summary

Children’s Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI, is seeking a part-time Medical Interpreter to support clinicians and families. The role involves translating between English and Spanish, both in person and via documentation, within primary care and hospital settings.

You will work 28 hours per week with varied shifts, attend trainings, and ensure adherence to ethics and accuracy standards. A high school diploma, medical terminology knowledge, and national certification ongoing are required.

Qualifications

• Completion of Medical Interpreting course with ethics, medical terminology.
• Currently enrolled acceptable if one semester complete and completion within 6 months.
• National certification maintained.
• 1+ years work experience in interpretation or related field.
• Bilingual in English/Spanish with ability to translate across cultural contexts.
• Pass verbal and written proficiency tests with an overall score of 80%.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate interpretation between clinical staff and patients/parents.
• Interpret in appointments, meetings, examinations, treatment sessions.
• Provide sight translation of medical and health information and documents.
• Translate, proofread, edit, and prepare materials in Epic or MS Word.
• Attend trainings, committees, and special projects.
• Support scheduling and audits as needed.
• Maintain adherence to NCIHC code of ethics.
