Job summary

Brown University Health is seeking a Medical Interpreter to provide both oral and written interpretation for non-English speaking patients and staff. Under supervision, you will explain hospital policies and assist patients with limited English proficiency, including Sign Language interpretation for Deaf and Hard of Hearing patients.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in science or human services.
• Must have Medical Interpreter Training Program Certificate.
• Fluency and proficiency in English and a target foreign language.
• Proficiency in Medical Terminology in English and a foreign language.

Responsibilities

• Provide oral and written foreign language interpretation for non-English and Sign Language patients.
• Interpret questions, responses, and instructions to patients by in person or telephone.
• Interview patients to complete required forms and schedules.
• Direct patients to appointments and assist with paperwork and paperwork explanations.
