Job summary

Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford seeks an experienced Relief Medical Interpreter / Translator (Arabic) to support patients and families with clinical and cultural needs. The role involves medical interpretation, translation of summaries, and connecting families to hospital resources.

Under supervision, you will handle consecutive and sight translation, ensure accuracy, and assist staff in maintaining patient understanding while safeguarding confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in translation and interpretation.
• Completion of medical interpreting training accepted by certification boards and one year of interpreting experience.
• Native or near-native ability in English and Arabic.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to perform consecutive interpreting and sight translation.

Responsibilities

• Interprets for patients and families in consecutive and sight translation modalities.
• Translates, edits and proofs simple to complex After Visit Summaries as needed.
• Connects patients and families to hospital resources.
• Shares observations with medical staff and ancillary staff to ensure quality patient care.
• Responds to Code emergencies and arranges language services as needed.
