Position: Full-Time Medical Assistant at The Chautauqua Center, Jamestown
Purpose: The Medical Assistant, under the supervision of a licensed professional, assists patients and their families by providing information, services, and assistance. Responsibilities include performing administrative duties and basic clinical tasks.
Job Duties:
- Verify patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of visit.
- Prepare patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests such as taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature; report patient history.
- Secure and maintain patient information by completing and safeguarding medical records, including diagnostic and procedure coding, and ensuring confidentiality.
- Counsel patients by transmitting physician's orders and answering questions.
- Schedule appointments with specialists, verify times, and prepare necessary documentation.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards, procedures, and legal regulations.
- Manage supplies by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt.
- Ensure equipment operates properly through troubleshooting, maintenance, and repairs.
- Update job knowledge through educational opportunities and reading professional publications.
- Adhere to professional standards, policies, procedures, and legal requirements to serve and protect the practice.
- Contribute to the practice's reputation by taking ownership of new requests and exploring value-added opportunities.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High School Diploma plus two years of equivalent experience.
- Bilingual skills preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to input data into health records accurately.
- Supply management skills.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Subject to drug screening, medical exam, and reference check.
Compensation:
$16.00-$19.50/hour.
