The Medical Assistant is responsible for providing clinical and administrative support to physicians and healthcare providers to ensure efficient and high-quality patient care. This role involves direct patient interaction, assisting with procedures, maintaining accurate documentation, and supporting overall office workflow. Key Responsibilities

Patient Care & Clinical Duties

• Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for provider evaluation.


• Obtain and accurately document vital signs, height, weight, and chief complaints.


• Review and update patient medical history, medication lists, and allergies.


• Assist providers during examinations and in-office procedures.


• Administer injections, immunizations, and medications as directed by the provider (per scope of practice).


• Perform EKGs, phlebotomy, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing as needed.


• Prepare and sterilize instruments and maintain exam room cleanliness.


• Provide patient education and explain treatment plans as instructed by the provider.


• Ensure proper documentation of all clinical interactions in the EMR/EHR system.

Administrative Support

• Prepare and review patient charts prior to appointments.


• Process prescription refills per provider protocol.


• Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and follow-up appointments.


• Respond to patient phone calls, messages, and portal inquiries.


• Assist with prior authorizations and medical record documentation.


• Maintain accurate and timely charting in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.

Operational Responsibilities

• Maintain inventory of medical supplies and notify management when stock is low.


• Ensure compliance with infection control and safety standards.


• Support front office staff as needed to maintain smooth patient flow.


• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings.

Qualifications
