Job summary

City of Edinburg is seeking a Library Assistant I to support librarians in organizing the library and audiovisual collections, and to help with patron services. The role includes registering borrowers, issuing library cards, and assisting with library events.

Must be bilingual (English/Spanish) and have strong computer skills in a Windows environment. A valid Texas driver’s license is required. Location: Edinburg, TX 78541.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree preferred.
• No prior experience required.
• Proficient in Windows environment: Excel, Word, Publisher, databases.

Responsibilities

• Register borrowers and issue library cards; maintain records of registrants.
• Assist patrons with information retrieval and cataloging tasks.
• Support library events and programs; help draft press materials.
