Job summary

Impacto Media seeks a bilingual Junior Editor to support editorial production across print and digital publications in English and Spanish. Reporting to the Editor-in-Chief, you will write, edit, and publish content, translating complex information into accessible pieces for the local community.

You will collaborate with editors and reporters, ensure accuracy and culturally relevant coverage, and help deliver a weekly product that reflects Impacto’s mission. Evening/weekend hours apply as needed.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish required; strong writing and editing skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Strong research, fact-checking, and information-verification skills.
• Ability to work under pressure with deadlines.
• Proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with WordPress and Trello.

Responsibilities

• Review and edit content for accuracy, clarity, organization, grammar, and tone.
• Edit articles, features, profiles, and digital content in English and Spanish.
• Translate complex information into clear, culturally relevant pieces.
• Conduct basic fact checking of articles and translations.
• Adapt content for print and digital formats (print, newsletters, social media, website).
• Review page proofs and digital content for errors.
• Support newsroom coverage with research and source gathering.
