Job summary

Sermetro in Detroit is seeking a part-time Intake/Data Specialist to assist with initial applicant assessment and program paperwork. You will maintain an accurate, up-to-date database for program activities and support office operations.

You will collect eligibility information, enter data, and generate routine reports. Strong attention to detail and bilingual Spanish/English abilities are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED certificate required.
• Associate Degree or a combination of education and related experience preferred.
• One to two years of data entry/accounting and customer service experience.
• Computer skills to maintain a database and generate reports; Word/Office suite training preferred.
• Interpersonal skills to communicate with customers and staff.
• Bilingual language skills (Spanish/English) preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
• Analytical ability to identify and resolve reporting errors.
• Ability to relate sensitively to a multiracial and multicultural group.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel to locations outside the office.
• Evening and/or weekend hours may be occasionally required.

Responsibilities

• Provides orientation to candidates interested in the program.
• Collects information and documents relating to eligibility.
• Performs customer follow-up and reminders for required documentation.
• Advises customers on rights and responsibilities of programs and services.
• Maintains detailed participant records in compliance with policies.
• Enters participant activity data into the reporting system accurately.
• Compiles program statistics and prepares related reports for submission.
• Reconciles and validates reports with related data files; reports errors to management.
• Maintains organized filing system and supports team as needed.
