Job summary

Demopolis City School System is seeking a Bilingual Instructional Aide to support language acquisition and classroom instruction in a school setting. The role reports to the School Principal, Counselor or EL Coordinator and involves assisting students and managing instructional tasks.

The ideal candidate is bilingual in Spanish, has a high school diploma or equivalent, and can pass a TB Skin test. The position is full-time and subject to board approval.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• Academic competency in basic English.
• Bilingual in Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate language acquisition intervention using instructional software and other evidence-based interventions.
• Performs all routine work assignments as directed by the principal, counselor or EL Coordinator.
• Operates all instructional or office machines efficiently.
• Provides instructional assistance to students.
• Follows instructions given by the principal, counselor or EL Coordinator.
• Provides supervision of students when the principal gives the aide a special, emergency supervisory assignment.
• Is responsible for positive, cooperative behavior when working with children and other adults.
• Maintains good attendance, and makes requests and notifications before being absent.
• Maintains attractive, acceptable grooming and dress.
• Accepts training and on-the-job suggestions by the principal, counselor, or EL Coordinator to improve behavior or technical skills.
• Maintains a positive and constructive attitude toward the confidential nature of the job.
