Job summary

State of Washington seeks an Industrial Relations Agent 2 (Spanish bilingual) to investigate prevailing wage matters and ensure compliance on public works projects across the state. The role requires strong Spanish-English communication and the ability to interpret laws and regulations.

The ideal candidate will hold a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree with relevant experience or a combination thereof. A bilingual exam is required and a 5% pay premium applies for bilingual responsibilities.

Qualifications

• The ability to read, write and communicate in both English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

• Investigate routine prevailing wage complaints and violations on Public Works projects.
• Determine validity of complaints by applying relevant Public Works rules and regulations.
• Review contracts between public agencies, contractors and subcontractors.
• Review payroll records to determine unlawful payment of wages.
• File liens with public agencies and negotiate restitution of wages.
• Recommend Notices of Violation and take appropriate action.
