Trostle Law, an immigration-only practice in New Orleans, seeks a bilingual Spanish-speaking paralegal focusing on removal defense and habeas corpus cases. The role involves client liaison, drafting pleadings, and researching country conditions. In-office position at 4902 Canal Street, with a fast-moving caseload and sensitivity to trauma.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must be fluent in Spanish.
• Strong writing skills in English/Spanish.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, including research and problem solve.
• Strong organizational skills & attention to detail.
• Proficient with technology such as Microsoft Word & Adobe.
• Must be comfortable interacting professionally with clients of diverse backgrounds.
• Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
• Must be able to track and meet deadlines.
• Must be comfortable with a large and fast-moving caseload of various case types.
• Experience in immigration law, removal defense strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the work of the attorneys in their representation of clients before EOIR, USCIS, BIA, District Courts, juvenile courts, etc.
• Liaise with clients to obtain documents and information.
• Draft pleadings, cover letters, declarations, motions, briefs.
• Assemble evidence, compile applications / petitions for relief.
• Conduct country conditions research.
• Correspond with clients and potential clients.
• Request records from various agencies.
• Translate documents & Other duties as assigned.
