Job summary

Elevate Patient Financial Solutions is seeking a Hospital Based Bilingual Patient Advocate in Falls Church, VA. This full-time, onsite role places you at the heart of patient financial advocacy, guiding uninsured patients through eligibility and financial assistance processes.

You will visit patients bedside, assess programs, and assist with applications, ensuring accurate completion and timely follow-up in both English and Spanish.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred, except when required by our client.
• Prior hospital experience preferred
• Adaptability with changing processes, systems and programs
• Experience with state and federal programs
• Critical thinking skills
• Able to move throughout hospital and patients' rooms during shift
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel and Outlook
• Fluent in Spanish and English for communication
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Dress according to client’s dress code

Responsibilities

• Screen uninsured hospital patients at bedside to determine eligibility for federal, state, and/or county programs.
• Complete the appropriate applications and follow through until approved.
• Document cases accurately in MPower and hospital systems.
• Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
• Participate in ongoing trainings to apply new knowledge.
• Maintain assigned work queue of patient accounts.
• Collaborate with hospital staff, case managers, social workers, and financial counselors.
• Handle calls and outbound outreach; track enrollment and renewals for Medicaid patients.
• Maintain timely contact with applicants and government agencies by phone.
• Assist applicants with gathering reports and arranging transportation as needed.
• Request home visits to obtain documentation when necessary.
• Inform clients of approvals/denials in a timely manner.
• Attend required trainings and stay updated on rules and regulations.
• Maintain regular attendance and perform other duties as assigned
