Job summary

Elgin is seeking compassionate Homemakers/Home Care Aides to support clients in their own homes. The role involves helping with daily living activities, light housekeeping, meal prep, errands, transportation, companionship, and respite care, while upholding agency standards and client privacy.

The position reports to the Supervisor. We value caring, dependable team members who can communicate in both English and Spanish, and who maintain good physical health to perform in-home tasks safely and

Qualifications

• Must pass agency exam with a score of 75% or higher.
• In good physical health.
• Bilingual: English & Spanish.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid drivere20s license and automobile insurance required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal planning and meal preparation.
• Perform light housekeeping duties (making beds, dusting, vacuuming, washing floors).
• Clean kitchens and bathrooms; handle laundry.
• Assist with shopping and errands per care plan.
• Escort clients to appointments and outings as listed in the plan.
• Provide companionship, friendship, and emotional support.
• Assist with written communication and information gathering as needed.
• Follow the care plan and agency policies.
• Observe changes in condition and report to Supervisor.
• Maintain records of daily activities and service hours.
• Attend orientation and staff meetings.
