Job summary

Society of St. Vincent de Paul Council of Seattle-King County seeks a full-time Helpline Intake Specialist in Seattle, WA. You will handle calls, document details, and coordinate referrals to SVdP volunteers and programs with care and accuracy.

We value bilingual English/Spanish communication, empathy, and the ability to work across departments. The role emphasizes confidentiality, data entry, and assisting neighbors with available resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or three to five years related experience and/or training.
• Experience in social work, counseling or crisis intervention is preferred.
• Ability to listen patiently and respond with respect and compassion.
• Ability to work with diverse cultural backgrounds and second-language speakers.

Responsibilities

• Answer and manage client calls for assistance; document client details in the database.
• Locate caller location on a map and refer to the appropriate SVdP volunteer group.
• Triages calls from distressed neighbors and determine program eligibility and referrals.
• Collaborate with Helpline Supervisor and other teams; participate in trainings.
• Provide reliable referrals to community resources and follow up on referrals.
• Maintain confidentiality of neighbors and assist in problem solving as directed.
