Job summary

Berkeley County First Steps seeks a Healthy Steps Specialist to provide early childhood support at MUSC University Pediatrics Clinics in Hanahan, SC. You will collaborate with pediatric teams, educate families on development, health, literacy, and education, and coordinate community resources.

You will conduct visits, engage in preventive care promotion, and participate in CQI and program planning with the Healthy Steps team, serving diverse communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, early childhood education, or related field highly preferred.
• Must be bilingual (English/Spanish).
• Experience and knowledge about early childhood growth and development, parent-child relational health, infant and early childhood mental health, and family systems.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Commitment to working with underserved populations in a community setting.
• Strong motivational interviewing skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to take initiative and a willingness to learn.
• Ability to collect and enter data for program management, evaluation, and reporting purpose.

Responsibilities

• Developmental Health Education and Screening with pediatric teams.
• Provide support and education to parents on child development, health, literacy, and education.
• Conduct office visits with providers or independently.
• Promote Healthy Steps within practices to families, providers, and community.
• Participate in reflective supervision meetings and home visits as needed.
• Create and maintain a community resource directory and provide referrals.
