Job summary

MAOF is seeking a Health & Social Services Coordinator for the Migrant/Preschool program in Monterey County. This role connects families with health, nutrition, mental health, and social services, supporting enrollment and outreach for migrant families.

Responsibilities include pre-screening, enrollment, parent trainings, coordinating with education staff, and maintaining accurate records. Requires bilingual English/Spanish, a CA license, and ability to work varying hours in a community setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Minimum of two (2) years of experience working with low-income families and/or children, including case management experience.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
• Must possess a valid California Driver’s License, reliable transportation, and current automobile insurance.
• Ability to understand and work with complex or conceptual information.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Strong written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Proficiency with computers and standard office software.
• Ability to work effectively with ethnically, culturally, linguistically, and socioeconomically diverse populations.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and professional working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, families, and the public.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and manage multiple priorities and changing assignments within established deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Provides MAOF families with emergency assistance and crisis intervention.
• Refers children and families to appropriate health, mental health, nutrition, disability, court, and social services; assists families with scheduling appointments and completing necessary follow-up.
• Conducts family assessments and develops family action plans to identify and address service needs.
• Assists the Site Supervisor with planning and presenting parent trainings related to child abuse prevention, health, social services, and other relevant topics.
• Assists with the distribution of health, nutrition, disability, and other program supplies.
• Assists families with transitioning children into the public school system.
• Conducts pre-screening and enrollment activities for migrant families, including health history interviews.
• Participates in parent orientation at the beginning of the program year.
• Assists with recruitment of children by attending community events and outreach activities.
• Collects and reviews completed health history forms for children enrolled at assigned sites.
• Educates parents regarding the importance of medical and dental screenings, examinations, follow-up care, and treatment.
• Assists families with scheduling medical and dental appointments and follows up to ensure services are completed.
• Maintains accurate medical and dental records for assigned children, including immunizations, referrals, and follow-up on identified health concerns.
• Serves as a primary parent contact for medical and dental matters and documents all related communication and follow-up.
• Meets regularly with site staff to coordinate health and social service activities with the education program.
• Assists teaching staff with activities that help prepare children for medical, dental, clinic, or hospital visits.
• Inspects first aid kits monthly and requests replacement supplies as needed.
• Monitors and manages the food pantry at the Salinas Child Care Center.
• Communicates effectively with parents and children in their preferred language and maintains confidential child and family records.
• Participates in required in-service training and professional development activities.
• Attends required meetings as designated by the Site Supervisor, Program Director, and Director of Operations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
