Job summary

Luzerne County Head Start is seeking a part-time substitute staff member to support Head Start classrooms in Hazleton. The role involves assisting educational activities and partnering with teachers to promote school readiness for 3- and 4-year-olds.

The position operates on an as-needed basis during the school year (August–June). A valid background clearance and education verification are required, with a pay rate of $14.80 per hour.

Qualifications

• Background Clearances (3) required by state/federal regulations.
• Proof of education required to meet qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Work as part of a team to assist in carrying out educational activities in the Head Start classroom setting.
• Partner with the education staff as a support in the classroom on an as needed basis; may serve as replacement staff for an absence.
• Maintain an atmosphere in the classroom that promotes school readiness and developmentally appropriate practices for 3- and 4-year-old children.
