Job summary

NORC at the University of Chicago in Lansing, MI seeks a Field Data Collector to conduct in-person interviews at respondents’ homes and collect data for public policy research. This role supports healthcare, education, and workforce studies and offers a flexible part-time schedule.

Ideal candidates enjoy meeting diverse people, can work evenings and weekends, and are comfortable making field contacts. Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus and experience in field interviewing is helpful.

Qualifications

• Part-time schedule of 20-25 hours per week, including weekday, evenings, and weekends.
• Comfort contacting people in-person at respondents’ homes, often without notice.
• Must reside within 100 miles of Lansing, MI.
• Must be able to use company-provided laptop, tablet and apps for tasks like emails and note capture.
• Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation.
• I-9 documentation and eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Gain cooperation of respondents to complete a survey by being persuasive and appropriately assertive.
• Maintain neutral and objective communication with respondents.
