Qualifications

  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
  • At least 1 year of experience in workforce development or related fields.
  • Strong presentation, networking, and public speaking skills.
  • Familiarity with local resources and employment laws for trans communities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; able to work with diverse groups.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.

Job description

  • Provide 1:1 employment services in English and Spanish, focusing on barrier removal, life skills, job readiness, vocational counseling, job search, retention, and referrals
  • Conduct assessments and intakes to determine program eligibility, client needs, and appropriate referrals
  • Assess participants' occupational skills and interests against the local job market
  • Assist clients in setting and reaching employment objectives
  • Co-create Individual Employment Plans and support implementation
  • Maintain knowledge of local resources
  • Assess and refer clients to mental health, medical, legal, crisis intervention, housing, transportation, training, group activity, and workshop resources
  • Support group activities for job seekers
  • Coordinate and facilitate job search workshops and life skills classes for Trans/GNC/LGBTQ community members
  • Provide instruction through demonstrations, lectures, guest speakers, cooperative learning activities, and other teaching modalities
  • Support career fairs and Employment Services events, including employer engagement events, drop-in groups, workshops, and group programs
  • Maintain client files, enrollment forms, Individual Employment Plans, contact documentation, employment and retention documentation, and evaluation forms
  • Ensure confidentiality of program participants and client files
  • Document group activities, including sign-in sheets, feedback forms, curricula, speaker information, and Salesforce updates
  • Perform data entry in Salesforce, Workforce Central, and SharePoint
  • Support minute taking, meeting facilitation, statistical reporting, and written narratives
  • Build partnerships with Center teams, staff, and collaborative agencies
  • Participate as a member of the Employment Services team
  • Support Employment Services program activities and general Center functions
  • Collaborate on department planning, evaluation, and sharing best practices and resources
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Cultural humility and demonstrated commitment to the transgender community
  • Familiarity with the diversity of transgender, lesbian, gay, and bisexual identities/experiences
  • Fluency in English and Spanish required
  • A minimum of one year of experience in workforce development, employment services, community development, case management, or volunteer management with adults from various professional backgrounds
  • Detail-oriented, hardworking, and able to complete paperwork accurately & in a timely manner
  • Strong presentation skills, including networking and public speaking or group facilitation
  • Understanding of local resources, local and state employment laws, and employment resources for trans communities
  • Strong communication and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong interpersonal relationship skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team-oriented organizational structure
  • Experience working collaboratively with multiple agencies
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office or similar programs
  • Understanding of the concept of relational databases
  • Competent using Internet and excellent research abilities

  • Requires flexibility in working some evenings and/or weekend hours
  • Must be able to operate a computer and other common office machinery such as a copier/printer up to eight hours/day daily
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of several hours daily
  • Must be able to lift to 20 pounds on an occasional basis
  • Must be able to work in a shared office space with 4 or more employees in the same office with moderate levels of noise
