Job summary

Bridges Public Charter School in Washington, DC is seeking a Spanish-speaking Elementary Teacher Assistant (1st–5th) to support the Lead Teacher in delivering inclusive, standards-based instruction for a diverse PK–5 student body.

The ideal candidate holds an AA/BA/MA (or equivalent) with strong Spanish language skills, and has prior experience with children or students with special needs. Collaboration with families and participation in school events are essential.

Qualifications

• AA/BA/MA or higher or high school diploma with Praxis Parapro.
• Strong Spanish speaking ability.
• Coursework in early childhood or elementary education.
• Prior work or volunteer experience with children or students with special needs.
• Strong skills in partnering with families.
• Commitment to meeting the needs of a diverse student population.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teacher in planning and managing for classroom success.
• Support creation of inclusive, universally designed lessons.
• Assist with planning and teaching core subjects (reading, math, science, social studies).
• Support small group instruction and recess supervision.
• Assist with attendance, grade book, and classroom organization.
• Engage with families and participate in conferences and translation when needed.
