• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
• Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for subject and level assigned
• Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans that reflect district curriculum requirements and show written evidence of preparation
• Plan and use instructional strategies and materials that reflect diverse learning styles and needs
• Assess student learning styles and use results to plan activities
• Work with special education staff to modify curricula as needed per IEPs
• Collaborate with staff to set instructional goals and methods per district requirements
• Supervise instructional aides and volunteers and oversee completion of tasks
• Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement and maintain records and reports
• Support extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor approved activities
• Model positive behavior and support the district's mission
• Create a conducive learning environment suitable for students' physical, social, and emotional development
• Manage student behavior per the Student Code of Conduct and handbook
• Take precautions to protect students and school property
• Assist in selecting books and materials and maintain required documents
• Establish professional relations with parents and community members
• Participate in staff development to improve job-related skills
• Comply with state, district, and school policies for classroom teachers
