Job summary

National Youth Advocate Program seeks an Educator for La Jornada in Virginia to create and sustain a developmentally appropriate program for students. You will develop weekly lesson plans, assess needs, and guide Assistant Educators to ensure holistic education and safety.

A TESL certification and 2+ years of teaching experience are preferred. The role requires bilingual English/Spanish abilities, a valid driver’s license, and a commitment to the wellbeing of children and families.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or elementary education.
• Willingness to obtain TESL certification paid by NYAP.
• 2+ years of teaching experience and lesson planning.
• Passionate about child development and wellbeing.
• Able to pass a criminal background check.
• 21+ years old, valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, good driving record.
• Bilingual; English and Spanish required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a positive and appropriate educational environment.
• Create a developmentally appropriate program for students.
• Develop weekly lesson plans and activities to meet individual needs.
• Assess children’s needs and adjust lessons accordingly.
• Provide guidance to Assistant Educators; ensure safety of all children.
• Participate in on-call schedule and recruitment activities as needed.
• Document attendance and progress according to requirements.
