Job summary

National Youth Advocate Program is seeking an Assistant Educator for La Jornada in Aurora, CO. The role supports teaching staff, helps develop lesson plans, and tracks child progress in a diverse classroom environment.

Required are an Associate degree in education or ECE, 2+ years as a Teacher Assistant, and fluency in English and Spanish. The position offers solid nonprofit benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in education and/or early childhood education.
• Valid ECE certification preferred.
• 2+ years’ experience as a Teacher Assistant or Paraprofessional, in a classroom with minority children.
• Proficient use of desktop and laptop computers, smartphones, tablets, printers, fax machines, and photocopiers; word processing, spreadsheets, and database programs.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish); fluency in Spanish is required.
• 21 years of age with valid state driver’s license and reliable vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing lesson plans based on state requirements and the needs of each child.
• Provide feedback to Lead Educator about children’s progress.
• Collaborate with educator to monitor academic progress and deliver daily lesson plans.
• Help deliver classroom activities when the teacher is absent.
• Support individual learning and development of children.
