Job summary

Clackamas Women’s Services seeks an DHS Advocate to provide crisis intervention, case management, advocacy, and support to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking referred by DHS Self-Sufficiency and Child Welfare programs. Bilingual Spanish/English preferred and travel across Clackamas County will be required.

Qualifications

• Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) and bi-cultural competent preferred.
• Experience supporting survivors of domestic violence, stalking, and/or sexual assault. Case management or advocacy-based experience preferred.
• Demonstrated understanding of domestic and sexual violence and its effects on survivors, their children and society.
• Understanding of child abuse issues.
• Understanding of systems of oppression, ability to work effectively and non-judgmentally with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Enthusiasm for working collaboratively with public and private systems (law enforcement, DHS, courts, education, etc.).
• Reliable transportation; may use personal vehicle. Travel throughout Clackamas County and the Greater Portland Area.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention, case management, advocacy, and support services to survivors referred by DHS Self-Sufficiency and Child Welfare programs.
• Provide consultation and support for DHS staff regarding dynamics of domestic violence and sexual assault and impact on survivors.
• Provide in-person advocacy and accompaniment during forensic exams for DV/SA survivors at county ERs.
• Contribute to a team-based advocacy model and support coworkers during workload fluctuations.
• Establish positive relationships with community partners and DHS systems.
