Job summary

Rosalyn Yalow Charter School in the South Bronx is seeking a bilingual Dean of Students to lead student support, behavior systems, and family engagement. The role anchors equity and high expectations while ensuring every student feels supported and valued.

The Dean will collaborate with teachers and families, especially Spanish-speaking families, to implement restorative practices, SEL, and crisis interventions, shaping a safe, rigorous learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in student support or discipline.
• Experience with social emotional learning, restorative practices, and equitable discipline.

Responsibilities

• Promote an inclusive, high-expectations school environment where all students feel they belong and are motivated to learn.
• Develop and oversee school-wide behavior support systems, disciplinary policies, restorative practices, and interventions.
• Serve as primary contact for student behavior and discipline concerns; conduct fair investigations and mediate conflicts.
• Provide mentorship, counseling, and social emotional support to students.
• Collaborate with teachers, families, and staff, including Spanish-speaking families, to address student needs.
• Use student data to identify needs and track progress in behavior and climate.
• Lead or support school-wide initiatives that improve culture and student leadership.
• Provide professional development on restorative practices, SEL, and equitable discipline.
• Support policy development, attendance procedures, and safety compliance.
• Maintain strong communication among students, families, teachers, and administrators.
