Job summary

The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston is seeking a Community Arts Initiative Liaison to lead art programming for youth at CAI partner sites and coordinate off-site activities. The role connects to the Museum’s collections and schedules after-school programming with an emphasis on collaboration with community partners.

The position requires Cantonese and/or Mandarin language ability, a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, and 1–3 years of program planning experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in museum education, art education, studio art, social work, urban studies, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of demonstrated experience with planning and leading art programs for children and families in diverse communities.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
  • Ability to speak and write in Mandarin and/or Cantonese required.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Google Suite.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility, patience, independence, and self-motivation.
  • Willing to work a flexible schedule, including evenings.

Responsibilities

  • Developing art programming and activities for youth at the CAI partner site.
  • Driving the MFA 15 passenger van to transport youth to the Museum for field trips.
  • Connecting youth families to special programs, events, and opportunities at the Museum.
  • Supporting the Lead Artist of the Artist Project to facilitate art-making sessions and collaborative installation.
  • Administrative tasks such as sharing lesson plans, tracking attendance, collecting demographics and release forms, sharing photos and highlights.
  • Attending a monthly in-person, evening CAI Liaison team meeting.
