Job summary

The Museum of Fine Arts Boston is seeking a part-time Community Arts Initiative Liaison to support CAI partner sites, primarily off-site, and to coordinate art programming for youth ages 6-14. The role involves after-school hours, travel duties, and collaboration with the Art Director and Lead Artist.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, 1–3 years of program planning experience, and fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in museum education, art education, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of demonstrated experience with planning and leading art programs for children and families in diverse communities.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
  • Ability to speak and write in Mandarin and/or Cantonese required.
  • Proficient with computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and Google Suite.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible schedule, including evenings.
  • Must input hours into the Museum’s electronic payroll system.
  • Work may require lifting up to 50 lbs and exposure to inclement weather.

Responsibilities

  • Developing art programming and activities for youth at CAI partner sites.
  • Driving the MFA 15-passenger van to transport youth to the Museum for field trips.
  • Connecting youth families to programs, events, and opportunities at the Museum.
  • Assisting the Lead Artist to facilitate 4 art-making sessions culminating in a May installation.
  • Administrative tasks such as sharing lesson plans and attendance records.
  • Attending a monthly CAI Liaison team meeting.
