Description

Job Summary:

The Clinical Receptionist -Float (PSSIII) position assists with the support, organization, and administration of the Front Office Revenue Cycle operations throughout most Journey Programs. The Clinical Receptionist insures accurate and timely scheduling, registration/enrollment, eligibility/insurance verification, collection of front end payments, produces documents, files, and answers phone. In addition, they also provide support and assistance to a variety of meetings and workgroups across Journey Mental Health Center. This position reports to the Revenue Cycle Supervisor. This position may require limited evening hours to provide coverage for other Clinic Based programs and check-in desks.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Reception and Consumer/Staff Interaction Activities

  1. Answer phones providing outstanding consumer support: providing information, support, and direction to callers in a culturally competent manner, respecting the values, beliefs, and traditions of consumers.
  2. Check consumers in by collecting, reviewing, and updating information in an electronic health record (EHR) and other databases. Support scheduling needs for clinical staff.
  3. Maintain comfortable environment in waiting area by addressing consumer behaviors and concerns, acquiring other support when necessary.
  4. Support program/staff by making copies, maintaining supplies, documentation and scanning, referrals, taking payments and other office/clerical tasks as needed.
  5. Provide coverage for program desks as needed.
  6. Coordinate with Clinical Nursing and Prescribing staff to support needs of Clinic Based programs.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

Education/Licensure

ESSENTIAL

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bilingual Spanish/English.
  • All potential candidates will need to successfully pass the Background Information Disclosure (BID) for entity employees and contractors. Wisconsin’s Caregivers Law requires background, and criminal checks are required by the Department of Health Services and Wis. Stat. 50.065(6)(c) and Wis. Admin Code § DHS 12.05(4)

Experience

ESSENTIAL

  • Demonstrate characteristics of flexibility, problem solving, multitasking and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a larger team.
  • Strong commitment to cultural diversity.
  • Knowledge and understanding of how to work with confidential information; adhering to HIPAA.
  • Strong commitment to, and comfort working with, individuals recovering from mental health/AODA issues.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide variety of people in a compassionate and recovery focused way.
  • Experience in providing administrative support or customer service.
  • Demonstrate superior communication skills including the ability to take accurate messages, communicate calmly, effectively, and courteously with a variety of customers, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrate strong computer skills including the ability to develop and monitor databases, use e-mail, internet, Word, Excel and other computer apps and programs.

PREFERRED

  • Experience working in a clinic or mental health setting.
  • Knowledge of computer programs, electronic health records and other databases.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires driving, sitting, standing, light lifting, bending, and reaching; and the ability to use and operate standard office equipment, including computer, calculator, phone, printer, cell phone, facsimile, etc.

Working Conditions

  • In person primarily Kessel Court location; backing up Olin location
