Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a Class Size Bilingual Teacher Assistant to support instructional activities under the supervision of a teacher with a valid state certificate. Responsibilities include bilingual supervision during meals, assisting with classroom tasks, and aiding in materials preparation.

The role requires a high school diploma and a valid paraprofessional license; strong English skills and at least one additional language are valued to support students and families within CPS.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school (or G.E.D. equivalent).
• Must possess a valid TASN (NCLB) paraprofessional license from ISBE, which may be obtained after 60 semester hours of college credit or after passing a paraprofessional exam (Work Keys or ParaPro).
• Good knowledge of English grammar and spelling and at least one other language; effective communication with the public.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes bilingual skills and assists in supervising students during lunchroom and playground activities.
• Assists in classroom activities and with displaying student work and bulletin boards.
• Operates photocopying and duplicating machines to reproduce educational materials.
• Greet and direct visitors to appropriate areas of the school; consult with teachers regarding student concerns.
