Job summary

Chicago Public Schools (CPS) seeks a Class Size Bilingual Teacher Assistant to support instruction in Priority Schools. Under supervision of a teacher, you will assist students, supervise lunch and play areas, and help prepare classroom materials to enhance student learning.

Educational requirements include a high school diploma and an ISBE paraprofessional license or equivalent exam. Strong English grammar and bilingual skills are valued to aid student success.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school (or GED).
• Must possess a valid ISBE paraprofessional license (TASN) after 60 college credits or via Parapro/Work Keys exam.
• Ability to work with and for school-aged children and follow instructions.
• Good knowledge of English grammar and spelling and at least one other language.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instruction and provide tutoring under supervision.
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, and bus loading/unloading.
• Assist teachers with classroom displays and materials.
• Operate audiovisual equipment and office machines.
• Maintain orderly classrooms and greet visitors.
• Collect and grade homework and exam materials under teacher supervision.
• Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student absences.
