Job summary

National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP) is seeking an Assistant Educator for La Jornada in Aurora, Colorado. You will support teaching staff, help develop lesson plans, and monitor student progress to promote learning and development.

The role requires an Associate degree in education (ECE preferred), bilingual English/Spanish, and a collaborative, nurturing approach. You will work with teachers to deliver daily lessons and assist in creating a positive classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in education and/or early childhood education.
• Valid ECE certification preferred.
• 2+ years’ experience as a Teacher Assistant or Paraprofessional in a classroom setting with minority children.
• Proficient use of computers, smartphones, tablets, printers, fax machines, and common software (word processing, spreadsheets, databases).
• Bilingual English/Spanish; Spanish fluency required.

Responsibilities

• Support the teaching staff and provide feedback to Lead Educator on children’s progress.
• Assist in developing lesson plans based on state requirements and students’ needs.
• Collaborate with educators to monitor academic progress of each child.
• Deliver daily lesson plans and support classroom operations when the teacher is absent.
• Work with individual children to promote learning and development.
